Ever want the perfect peachy neutral? Well here it is. Found on my search for something in the peach family but that didn't make my fingers look ridiculous, I happened upon OPI's Coney Island Cotton Candy. It's one of those wonderful colors that is transformed if you do 3 coats versus 2, making it all the more useful. Whether you want a nice light base for a french mani or cute little design, or a fresh and fruity hue that can stand alone, Coney Island Cotton Candy does just the trick. This hue will be especially comforting since what we know of Coney Island will soon be undone :(

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice....for your Pout
We all want kissably soft lips all the time (especially with mistletoe threatening to hang soon). What better way to treat your lips than with something natural and yummy? Fresh's Brown Sugar Lip Polish does just that: Fresh uses real brown sugar crystals in this product to gently help buff away dead skin, leaving lips moisturized and refreshed. Available at Sephora for $22.50, its the perfect little stocking stuffer.

Holiday Beauty Looks
We are now in the latter seasons of the year and our tans are fading but hopefully we can still play up that summer glow. Here are some tips for producing stunning looks for the Holiday season's events. Don't be afraid to try new things but I would say it's best to try these out before going out for the real deal.
Instead of overdoing it with bronzer, there are other ways to look fresh: try some different highlighters and shimmers. Highlighters draw attention to the eyes, nose and cheek bones, accentuating the lines and structure of your face. Tarina Tarantino has a line at Sephora and I adore her Eye Dream Hyperliner in "Broken Doll" which is a two in one eye pencil and highlighter that I've been primarily using as a highlighter for my nose. It adds just a shuttle shimmer with barely there color but it's perfection.
Bold lips are a definite attention grabber and a quick way to sex up an outfit. Whether you chose a sensual red or a bright color, do something that will turn heads. YSL has great lipstick, my fave red is from their line. And Mac has great shades from their regular collection to the Viva Glam colors, which I have in Gaga.
Smokin' eyes - whether they be a variation on the smokey eye or just really rimmed - are a sure-fire vixen look. Honestly, any black eyeliner will do the trick; you can find great ones in your local the drug store, a la Milani. And you'll need at least three shadows for a smokey eye (one base, one dark, and one blender that's in between) anything Mac is great.
If the eye's going to be the dramatic element, the lips should be very sutble, either nude or slightly hued. For a great nude try something from Buxom's Buxom Big & Healthy Lipstick which is awesome; the color is great and lasts a while and there's some lip plumer technology going on too. The Fall/Winter staple Smashbox's O-GLOSS Noir (which I'd written about a month or so ago) is another great option. It's not easy to find now, but some still have it, so snatch it up!
Using jewel coloring and vivid color is a wonderful way to brighten your face and make your eyes pop. One great eye liner to add to this look is MAKE UP FOREVER's Aqua Eyes. Their jewel tones are gorgeous. For other fun vivid colors, check out Mac, too.

THE VEAL DEAL: La Esquina
Living the restaurant life, I literally eat all day long....whether its tasting things, or grabbing a quick bite with my fellow chefs and friends. You would think after working 10hrs in a restaurant kitchen I wouldn't be hungry anymore right? WRONG! This never ending food curiosity lead me across the street after work one night to the infamous La Esquina restaurant. Known for the tacos and celeb sitings, I didn't go in the actual restaurant, located downstairs.....I just grabbed a quick bite at the taqueria they have attached, thats open 24hours.(Gotta LOVE NYC!) It was crowded and no seats at the window, which is always a great sign...even at 12:45am! I've never been there before so glancing over the menu, something caught my eye instantly! I immediately ordered the Lengua taco.....Veal Tongue, salsa verde, pickled onions, cilantro, jalepeno, queso fresco, and black beans on a soft corn tortilla. I have never had tongue of any kind...seen it cooked before... but I was NOT going to pass this up! I also ordered the Tinga de Pollo taco(stewed pulled chicken, avocado, shredded cabbage, chipotle salsa) and a mexican soda(mango), but once I taste the veal tongue taco, that chicken one didn't stand a chance. From what my "chef's eye" saw, it was half of a veal tongue, with perfectly charred grill marks. I taste the tongue first and it was amazing! A little fatty, a little chewy..and somehow rich in flavor and texture, but the pickled onions, offset that perfectly. Never having tongue before, theres a lesson to be learned here.....curiosity might lead you to eat amazing new things. GO EAT!

RECIPE: Roasted Pumpkin Pasta Salad with Shrimp
Ok, I admit fall is here...I was holding off for a little bit, trying to resist, but looking at menus I know its official... Fall is upon us, menu's are changing..and that means pumpkins, squash, apples, and hearty warm body comfort foods will be making its way onto our plates. I know that after the occasional pumpkin pie or pumpkin creme brulee, I get a little tired of seeing pumpkin and squash, just thrown together because its a fall staple. I personally love roasting acorn squash, sprinkling it with sea salt while hot, and just having that as a snack. With fall in mind, I've created a spin on a hearty warm pasta salad, that uses pumpkin, a thyme vinaigrette, and shrimp! Sounds delicious? Heres the recipe!
Roasted Pumpkin Pasta Salad with Shrimp
1 lb of Penne Pasta
1/2lb - 1lb peeled and cleaned white shrimp
1 Kombucha pumpkin, cleaned and diced (you can also substitute pumpkin for 2 acorn squash or 1 whole butternut squash, cleaned and seeded)
1 whole lemon, juiced
1 tablespoon, lemon zest
1 shallot, minced
1/2 bunch picked thyme leaves
1 tablespoons yellow mustard
1c. olive oil
1/4-1/2 cup white wine vinegar
extra olive oil
salt and pepper
Place cleaned and diced pumpkin on a baking sheet, toss with olive oil, season with salt and pepper and place in a 425 degree oven until brown and crispy. Cook pasta as directed on package or to your liking. In a large saute pan, heat olive oil, add shrimp and saute until pink and translucent. Place minced shallots, 1/2 of the lemon juice, mustard, and vinegar in a bowl, and whisk in olive oil to form a vinaigrette. Season with salt and pepper and set aside. Drain pasta, and in a large bowl, add pasta, roasted pumpkin, and shrimp. Add vinaigrette, and picked thyme leaves, and toss until pasta, pumpkin, and shrimp are evenly coated with vinaigrette. Season with salt and pepper and serve warm.Pin It
