Forever 21 Plus Shopping: Times Square

Forever21 Plus Size Shopping at the Times Square Location. I’m on a mission to find the perfect birthday outfit - the gal pals (and Izz) and I will be classing it up at a play and soiree for my big 25, and we’ll be dressed to the nines so I have to do this the right way!
I fell in love this leather studded skirt with a misaligned zipper (on sale for $12.99), sequined tank dress ($27.80) and semi-bandage dress with multi-color bands ($29.80). While these were all lovely, I don’t think they are quite what I’m looking for. The search continues!
Good news for us plus size gals though - Forever 21 Plus has us covered for office holiday parties, dinner with the family, and New Year’s celebrations.

Natural Hair: Protective Styling

Protective styling I’m taking for a test drive. My hair is in an awkward length and it’s super dry. I’ve tried dusting my ends to protect it, but my natural hair just keeps getting the best of me.
I may just keep doing styles like this until 2012. Self-imposed 30 day challenge?

Goodwill in NYC

I’ve gotten a number of requests asking for a list of Goodwill Locations in NYC. I only shop at one location in the Bronx, but I know the store on 5th Avenue in Harlem is pretty substantial.
103 W 25th Street (Manhattan)
 104 Second Avenue (Manhattan)
220 East 23rd Street (Manhattan)
217 West 79th Street (Manhattan)
44 West 8th Street (Manhattan)
2196 Fifth Avenue (Manhattan)
512 W 181st Street (Manhattan)
1102 Fulton Street (Brooklyn)
Who’s down to shop?? I think Black Friday might be a good decision…

New Museum

Some friends and I went for a trip to New Museum last week. Nothing is better than a nice night out with good laughs, good company and good food. We caught “Alpha’s Bet is not Over Yet” and “Carsten Holler: Experience” before grabbing dumplings and lychee martinis from Verlaine

REVIEW: Red Rooster

Those who know me know of my love for Harlem - my job, my friends, and pretty much majority of my social life revolve around it. Of course, I adore Marcus Samuelsson and all that he does and couldn’t help but make my way to Red Rooster for an early dinner.

We had Crab Cakes (Lump Crab Cakes, Spiced Mayo, Avocado) that we devoured so quickly there was no hope of snapping a flick, Blackened Catfish & Black Eyed Peas, and Fried Yard Bird.

For the price, I’m not exactly sure we got what we expected. The bill reached a centennial - almost $100 for a cocktail, beer, shared appetizer, and two entrees. The restaurant’s saving grace was The Savoy - a delightful, refreshing cocktail of Wodka, Lemon, Muddled Grapes, and Agave.

Stop by Red Rooster and possibly shake the hand of The Man of Honor himself - Samuelsson is always present to look his patron’s in the eye!
