Working in Education, I often need to play Clark Kent when I head out after 5 pm. I always look for transitional pieces that I can switch into to turn it up after hours.
For my daytime look, I went with a sheer blouse. The shirt really mutes this fun tribal print skirt and multi-necklace look. When dressing for my job, I always think in layers. In the summer, it's a blouse; for the fall/winter months, I'm forever in a blazer.
Accessories are a win-win when it comes to transitioning day-to-night looks. This gold three-layer necklace was a DIY project. Whenever I want to get funky, I just let the extra chain hang! Cosmetics can also transform a look - nudes and blush tones are great for the AM, and deep or bright hues pop for PM.
Last, but definitely not least, let your hair hang down! Have fun and enjoy yourself. Lots of people I know in bustling cities are managing dual lifestyles - business in the front, party in the back.
What are some ways you transition from day to night? Share, share!

ReplyDeletethank you, boo!
DeleteGirrrrrrrlllll- you are rocking this! The skirt is OFF THE CHAIN and the hair pulls it all together! I usually change my top too when I have something after work - a basic bottom lets you change shoes, top and accessories without much fuss. And I love the chain down the back - I will be stealing that idea!
ReplyDeletehaha, thanks Juliette! I got the skirt from Forever 21 for $9.95! Yes yes, a basic bottom (or top) allows for flexibility. Great ideas!

ReplyDeleteI am loving the skirt and how you styled the day-to-night looks. When I transition from day-to-night, I usually just switch up the shoes, accessories, and make-up. I will definitely have to try and get pictures of my day-to-night looks. And that necklace? You did a great DIY with that.

@Sarah Jane, thank you! Yes, I would love to see your pictures!
ReplyDeleteWow love this! I do have one question for you though, hope you're not offended: I noticed in the night outfit that your top has a low open back, which I love. Since you're "blessed" in the breast area just as I am, how do you wear this without your bra showing? What kind of bra do you wear? I would love to know since I'd love to wear tops like this too without my bra-straps showing. Do you have some tips?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Dionne
Absolutely stunning!!..i love the night look especially...working those curves!!..
ReplyDeletexx
haha thanks freda!
DeleteI love this bra. I thought it was too tight when I first wore it, but after wearing it twice I got used to it and actually like that they keep everything in place... I strongly recommend playtex style 4823
