[Closed] GIVEAWAY: Dr. Miracle's Curl Care

Remember my Dr. Miracle's Curl Care review? I am now giving away a set of products for you to try! The full Curl Care line includes:

Dr. Miracle's Curl Care Rehydrating Shampoo
Dr. Miracle's Curl Care  Leave In Conditioner
Dr. Miracle's Curl Care Weightless Moisturizing Creme
Dr. Miracle's Curl Care Nourishing Conditioner
Dr. Miracle's Curl Care Soft Hold Creme
Dr. Miracle's Curl Care Anti-Frizz Serum

I have what some consider "Type 4" hair, and have experienced great results with this product. The pros? AMAZING curl hold, the product smells great, and the cremes are great moisture sealants. The cons? Since the cremes are so thick, I always end up with tons of product build-up. Very avoidable if you're not as heavy handed as I am.

Use the widget below to enter the contest. Subscribing to my Youtube channel is mandatory. Extra points if you like me on Facebook and Twitter or join me on Google Friend Connect!

This tribal print top is a favorite of mine - it's been sitting in my closet for months with no reason to come out. Orange is my go-to hue, and Tangerine Tango is the "it" color this season so why not?

Would you believe if I told you I go this top from a Goodwill for $2?!

MASQUE Out & About: DanceAfrica

The annual DanceAfrica festivities in downtown Brooklyn are always a pleasure to be a part of. Clothing, jewelry, music and food vendors line the streets outside of Brooklyn Arts & Music while onlookers enjoy the sights and smells. The festival is always followed by a performance at BAM, this year in it's 35th rotation.

At the festival, I ran into Pop Up Plus NY. They had lots of ASOS Curve choices and even had some pieces from Decadent Industries (remember them?).

HAIR: DIY Rihanna's Fake Dreadlocks [Tutorial]

On the American Idol finale a couple of nights ago, Ms. Rihanna sported a full head of fake dreadlocks. I am a proponent for strapping on some faux hair for a protective hairstyle, and I've gotten so many questions about how to achieve this look.

The girl Susy of African Creature does a brief, very simple fake dreadlock tutorial using yarn. So easy, a caveman could do it.

My BIGGEST piece of Fake Dreadlock Advice:
Use the "moisture and seal" method for your own hair beforehand. Wrapping your hair in yarn unconditioned will undoubtedly lead to hair breakage and loss.

Please, share links to your fake dreadlock success stories! Fake dreadlocks are on my top list of summer hairstyles (next to marley hair extensions). If you'd like me to do a tutorial of my own, shout me a holler on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, or Youtube.

MASQUE Out & About: Hello Kitty x Hanky Panky Party

Lingerie brand Hanky Panky's latest endeavor is a partnership with Hello Kitty. To celebrate its launch, there was a crazy celebration with Sephora Makeovers (see their line of Hello Kitty stuff here), video flipbooks, Hello Kitty Tinis, Hello Kitty gum (!), celebs, cotton candy, and crazy huge mirrors.

Tineey and I rocked it out in the flipbook videobooth - Whitney Houston "I Want to Dance with Somebody" was on!

Lady19: Shapely Photo Book Project

We are so lucky to be living in a time where women of all shapes and sizes are being embraced, while artists are finding compelling ways to express that diversity. J William Washington (for those who read FashionBombDaily, he was one of my favorite Fashion Bombers) has teamed up with make-up artist Shayla Reed to present Lady19.

"Lady19 is a photo book project dedicated to the inspiration of shapely woman. Visually combing a lady’s grace along with the allegory of the letter S being the 19th letter in the alphabet, the project aesthetic focuses on the natural curvaceous of the female form. Voluptuous women as being the ideal body image has long been the predominate thought throughout most of history. Lady19 is a collection of images continuing that appreciation."

The photobook is still in production, and the team is accepting submissions for models. They are located in LA, but who knows if they'll be coming to a city near you! I am absolutely enthralled that there is a celebration of body appreciation happening right now. Great job JWill and Shay!

OUTFIT: Concrete Sunset

This city is bogged down with smog, buildings, and bricks. Lots of it. Every so often, we are lucky to find roses that grow from the concrete.

My life is moving so fast - sometimes it's nice to take a second and breeeathe. I am so blessed and fortunate to have such great friends and was reminded of that this week. I can't remember the last time I smiled and laughed so much. My buddy Olu Bliss performed at Webster Hall (pics and maybe video coming soon?) , a friend had a wonderful birthday celebration at Beekman Beer Garden, Tineey and I swirled in pink happiness at Hanky Panky's Hello Kitty party (pics coming soon on that too), and I got to see one of my best friend's that I haven't seen in a long while.

Life is too short, and a little bit too sweet. Remember to always find the little joys in your days and enjoy those who make your days worthwhile. Happy weekend!

Dress: 125th Street - $20
Clutch: Thrifted - $3
Shoes: H&M - $7 (on sale, boom!)

MASQUE Out & About: Scent of Departure x Henri Bendel

A few weeks ago, Tineey hosted an event with The Scent of Departure at Henri Bendel. Talk about a feast for the senses - the sights and the smells were enough to send me for a loop.

Upon arrival, a "flight attendant" asked me a series of questions to help me pick the scent that best matched my personality. Apparently, I'm an adventurous free-spirit that matches the scent of BUDAPEST! The mixture of cedars, lemon, peppers and violet embodied my inclination for nature and my spicy behavior ;)

Tineey cute as a button, y'all!

The riches, the riches! The Scent of Departure offers sprays from 19 different countries, ranging from earthy and spicy to soft and tangy and all that lie between. There are some new cities in the works - guests were able to stop by The Scent of Departure's display and take a guess at the next destination. Winner gets a trip for two to Paris!

Check The Scent of Departure's description for NYC - lilac, rose, and apple? That's funny, those are the polar opposite of what I'd expect bottled New York to smell like (haha).

The Scent of Departure display is no longer at Henri Bendel, but it has become a shelf staple there. Stop by, take a whiff of the scents, and let The Scent of Departure depart you to places you've never imagined!

OUTFIT: Baby Blues

Tineey and I were dying to shop and were in midtown, so we made our way to Forever 21 Times Square. I was trying a little too hard to get my hands on the maxi cut out dress she picked up the weekend before. Of course, they were out of it but I can always count on Forever 21+ for a nice pair of jeans.

This beauty of a necklace ended up in my mailbox the other day - I totally forgot I ordered it! (Confessions of an Online Shopper)

I always try to keep things comfortable during the week, so I wore a pair of black snakeskin flats. As usual, my skirt is thrifted. I absolutely adore the way the full circle shape flows in the wind.

Skirt - $4.00, thrifted
Necklace - $10.00, ebay
Shoes - $35.00, DSW

Summer 2012 Beauty Trends

Thanks to Walgreens for underwriting this post. I was paid as a member of the Clever Girls Collective, but the content is all mine. Visit http://www.discoverbeautywithin.com/

The summer is swiftly approaching, and peepers and puckers are as playful as they come. Summer beauty trends are chock full of color, and with stores like Walgreens, these chic looks are achievable on a budget!

Trend: Aqua Pop

Pastels are a surefire way to keep an outfit ladylike and demure. Kick the color up a notch by using it for a cat-eye flicker. To get this look, I used the "cake liner" method - wetting an angled brush and using a dry shadow. Milani Runway Eyes is engineered to transition well from wet-to-dry.
*please excuse my squinty eye, flash is the devil!*

Trend: Violet/Berry Stained Lips

Usually reserved for fall beauty, deep violets and berry lip stains maintain a crisp spring air when paired with nude, fresh faces. Want to play with color? Add a lighter hue to the center for an orchid lip.

Trend: Tangerine Lips

What is not to love about tangerine? The kinfolk to the traditional red lip breathes a new life to everything from peplum skirts to maxi dresses. Not much else is needed with color like this!
